The Athlete Mindset

Hard Enduro one of the most physically demanding sports on the planet

As Hard Enduro Riders I think we can all agree that we should consider ourselves athletes. If you disagree then you've obviously never scrummed your way through a technical section with an Iron Horse between your legs. We definitely don't just sit there and twist the throttle.

So why do majority of us not act like athletes? Why don't we eat like athletes? Why don't we train like athletes?

Join the Hard Enduro Factory to take your first step towards being an athlete.

Benefits of Strength & Conditioning Training

Most Hard Enduro Riders don't know how much they can increase their performance on the bike by supplementing it with off the bike strength & conditioning.

What are the benefits:

• Increased strength - stronger bones, muscles & connective tissue

• Improved Muscular Endurance & Aerobic base - ride harder for longer

• Better mobility & body control - decreased risk of injury

• Moving more efficiently as a whole, translates to better technique execution on the bike.

Why Hard Enduro Riders Need Specialized Training

What not to do...

  • Don't neglect strength & conditioning, especially with the ever increasing difficulty of Hard Enduro around the world. Relying on only your talent & skills to get you to the finish and keeping you safe is not enough these days.
  • Don't rely on your local CrossFit or functional gym class to prepare you adequately for our sport. Although these classes may seem ideal, they often don't monitor your training volume, rest & recovery, and they aren't designed specifically around your weaknesses, needs or past injuries.
  • Don't copy the workout plan of your favourite Hard Enduro rider. Yes they are most likely a professional, but I can almost guarantee that they will have a qualified person looking after their strength & conditioning. Therefor their program will not be suited for you.
  • Don't buy into a program or trainer that doesn't consult with you first, take a full history and offers you the opportunity to talk to them directly.

Any Rider Can feel the Benefit

At Hard Enduro Factory, we believe that any rider, from the weekend warrior to the pros, can benefit from strength and conditioning training. Don't hesitate to consult with us before buying into a training program. We will take a full history and offer you the opportunity to talk to us directly.

Here's what our clients have to say

"Without the program before joining I felt like I had no consistency in my training, I felt like I was never giving 100% and wasn’t really seeing any progress. My biggest win during would have been being the fittest I have ever been, being the most race ready I have ever been. It helped me complete Gold class Roof of Africa 2022. I feel great, learnt a lot about how far I could push my body and mind. The achievements that it helped me reach, it was massive for me. To someone sitting on the fence I would say what do you have to loose? You don’t even have to think, just do.. the results will show before you know it."

Mitch Gallagher

New Zealand

"Before joining Gareth's program, I knew that I needed it. I was unfit and not in good shape. Gareth got me prepared in good time before impi and I appreciate his program for that. During the program I saw a huge increase in my cycling abilities and also my riding abilities. Gareth got me to where I am now and he helped me improve greatly. Do it and join, you will see a difference in only a month, it will make your riding better and you will enjoy it"

“Thought I was riding fit and didn’t feel the need for additional training. Was not as strong as other riders and endurance was a big issue - getting tired early = mistakes and this took the elements of enjoyment and confidence out of the sport. Biggest win was feeling a lot stronger which directly influenced my confidence for longer stage races or events. The improvement in my riding was noticeable due to feeling a lot stronger and capable of dealing with extremely technical type rides for longer periods. Will continue to engage in the program as the benefits gained (both on the bike and personal health) was noticeable. Lost 8kgs (I don’t have much to lose), look and feel better and gained strength. Money well spent if you commit to the program / routine for your own benefit. You will become a more accomplished rider and feel more confident. Your personal health and conditioning will also improve - there is no price for that in the long run……I believe that if anyone engages in this program, they will change their views & approach on how to stay fit and strong.”

Chris Rawlings

"Before joining the training program I felt I was running around blind in the gym doing common exercises that did not play any part in my riding. As soon as I started the program I saw the results in my races winning races and also in my recovery after races. I am really happy with my decision with doing the training not knowing what I was getting into I was pleasantly surprised with the workouts it made it fun to get into the gym. I highly recommend joining the program Gareth is a great coach he pays attention to detail always asking about injuries and making sure you do workouts correctly to avoid injury."
